Hedgehog fun in the sun

Home // News // Hedgehog fun in the sun

Spring was in the air this week as we visited the Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses to host a special hedgehoggy morning for little nature explorers.

PTES and partners Doodles and Scribbles were invited by the team at the park’s wonderful community greenhouses to run a half term hedgehog morning for local kids. It was a full house of babies, toddlers, older children, parents and grandparents as the sun shone in south London.

We introduced the children to the world of hedgehogs, where they live and what they need to survive. They then had a special reading of ‘Hedgehogs don’t live in the city’ with author Lucy Reynolds. The group also learnt about how to help hedgehogs before heading out to explore the gardens.

Out in the spring sunshine we went in search of hedgehog habitats and collected natural materials to make a mini clay hedgehog to take home.

All our visitors went home with their top tips booklet from Hedgehog Street and were excited about welcoming some spiky visitors to their gardens soon.
