National Dormouse Conference – 14th November 2026
People’s Trust for Endangered Species is the main conservation charity in Britain that focuses on hazel dormice. However, despite our best efforts, hazel dormice have been in decline in Britain for over a century. During that time, the population has fallen and their range has steadily shrunk. So, what does the future hold for the species?
The conference will take place on 14th November 2026 at Reading University.
The theme of the conference will be recent dormouse projects including:
- Developing a National Dormouse Strategy
- Population Viability analysis for dormice
- Forest rest of Selwood
- Developing a Risk Zone Map for Sussex – Sussex survey project
- The 10-year project at Wyre Forest.
The conference is aimed at all the volunteers who monitor National Dormouse Monitoring sites and have provided such an important and valuable resource for research. It will also be of interest to ecological consultants who regularly or occasionally come across dormice in the course of their work and also to government organisations and NGO’s who are involved in all aspects of dormouse conservation.
