Winter Pruning Course 2

Join Andy Howard, experienced fruit tree pruner and owner of the Heritage Fruit Tree Company, for a day’s training course to learn the theory and practice of winter pruning on site in Warwickshire.

This Course will take place at George Browning: Feldon Forest Farm, at Frankton, Rugby, Warks, CV23 9PD.

George has an orchard with a variety of younger and older trees, in varying states of pruning need with different types, including tip bearers, so you will be to be able to see different strategies of pruning utilised on site .

Learn the theory, skills and practice of winter pruning for fruit trees such as apple and pear. Discover the different methods and techniques used to shape fruit trees, control their size and influence their productivity. Find out when and how to apply these to suit different circumstances and different types of top fruit. Learn the difference between winter and summer pruning and when and How to prune pip fruit and stone fruit.

We then practice the theory on real fruit trees – to gain these skills yourself and help get the confidence to apply them in your own orchard, garden or community orchard. Or, why not help a neighbour or family member get their fruit trees into a productive shape?

Price: £50 for MSOG members. £60 for non-members, who will receive free MSOG membership to 31-Mar-21. Free refreshments will be provided, but please bring your own packed lunch.
