Roots and Shoots Apple Day

Get ready for this year’s Apple Day at Roots and Shoots. Celebrating 20 years of fun packed activities for all ages, brilliant crafts and art stalls as well as food and cakes. But most important of all, viewing over 100 varieties of apples from the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale Farm, Kent and from the Usk Valley, Wales.

  • Apple displays this year from Somerset (c.40 varieties), Brogdale (c.50 varieties) and Wales (about 15 varieties)
  • Exhibition: Origins and evolution of apples
  • Andy Howard’s Heritage Fruit Tree company: apple trees from his collection and talk
  • Apple pressing, games
  • Storytelling
  • Crumbucket the Musical Dragon Machine
  • Corn Dolly making
  • London Wildlife Trust Lost Effra Project
  • Music, food, refreshments, stallholders
