Porlock Apple Press & Rural Crafts Festival

October 19, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Much more than just an Apple day! A fun, apple event, with something for all ages.

A look back to old country crafts centred around our 1862 ‘Somerset Pattern’ apple press, which will be in action pressing many tons of apples into fresh juice for you to taste and take away. Our vintage stationary engine will be belt-driving our vintage apple scratter prior to pressing in the traditional way.

Old rural crafts such as wool spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, basket weaving, woodland crafts etc, also demonstrated.

Loads of home made appley cakes, pies, jams, chutneys, a fantastic hog-roast, appley soups, tea and coffee means you don’t even need to bring a packed lunch. Add to this some hearty singing of a cider song or two (you can join in too!), birds of prey, vintage engines and machinery in action…plus much more…means a brilliant day out for all the family. The best bit……IT’S FREE!

On site loos, and parking is only 150yds away
