Dormouse Ecology, Conservation and Woodland Management – Tuesday 1st April & Wednesday 2nd April 2025

April 2 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 1:30 pm, repeating until April 2, 2025

During this online course, we will look at the ecology of dormice, their conservation and relevant legislation. We will also consider woodland management for the species.

This course is an excellent first step for those wishing to get involved in dormouse conservation and it is recommended as a first step for those wishing to train for their dormouse license. It will not, however, provide you with a reference for your dormouse license application.

This course will be run over two afternoon sessions and cost £50 or £80 depending on a delegates position.

Tutor: PTES Dormouse and Training Officer Ian White.  Please email ian.white@ptes.org for further details

Ian White, the course leader, has been working with dormice for over 20 years and has worked solely on the species since being with PTES for the last twenty years. He has developed most of the training resources to help people work towards their licence, he manages the dormouse reintroduction programme, is part of the team that manages the NDMP and has extensive experience in dormouse mitigation procedures. He also manages the dormouse monitoring programme on the Briddlesford estate on the IoW.
