SUMMARY:Gloucestershire Orchard Trust Longney Orchard open day
DESCRIPTION:Open to all. We welcome everyone\, especially Longney locals\, Longney schoolchildren and GOT members/families and\nvolunteers. Browse the progress made with the mature and young orchards of Gloucestershire varieties and display\nboards. Juice\, cider and perry for sale! BBQ but bring a picnic lunch and something to sit on (we have limited benches\nand chairs)\, suitable footwear (ground is uneven). There is a composting loo and running cold water. Please bring your\nown handsanitizer. \nSunday 12th September 2021 at 12-4pm \nThe site is part of the Severn Way. The Public Right of Way can be accessed from the white railings in Longney. No\nvehicular access. There are sheep so any dogs must be kept on leads and keep gates closed please. We have a first aid kit\nand one of our committee is first aid trained. \nPlease check the GOT website glosorchards.org nearer the time for any changes (eg national covid-19 restrictions or\nbad weather). \nWe also celebrate twenty years since GOT was founded! \n  \nDirections to GOT’s Longney Orchards\nLongney is eight miles south west of Gloucester by road. The GOT orchards front the east bank of the River Severn.\nThe easiest way to find a route is to use Google Maps with postcode GL2 3SW. The Glamping Orchard is marked and\nis next to the footpath that leads to the orchards.\nSatnav: Bow Lane Cottage\, GL2 3SW is next to the white railings.\nMaps: White railings: SO 7598 1368.\nOS Explorer 1:25k: OL14 Wye Valley & Forest of Dean\nOS Landranger 1:50k 162 Gloucester and Forest of Dean\nBus: Stagecoach 60F Gloucester – Dursley\, but only one service through Longney each way per day.\nFrom the A40 roundabout at Over take the A430 Gloucester south-west bypass\, cross the canal and at the traffic\nlights turn right onto the B4008 towards Quedgeley.\nAt the traffic lights turn right for STONEBENCH AND ELMORE.\nAt the second roundadbout turn right for STONEBENCH AND ELMORE.\nCross the canal at Rea Bridge.\nFollow this road\, close to the river in part (may be impassable if the river has burst its banks)\, and turn right at the Tjunction.\nFollow the lane through ELMORE.\nAfter the LONGNEY sign\, look out for a turning to WATER END on the right\, but DO NOT TAKE IT.\nThe track to the orchard is between the clump of houses on the right-hand side\, on a left-hand bend next to a white\nrailings.\nThere is NO VEHICLE ACCESS to the orchard via the track.\nPlease park considerately on the roadside.\nFarmer Roger Godwin is also kindly allowing us all to park at his Yew Tree Farm\, just a few hundred yards\nnorth of the white railings in Longney. Please use his lower entrance.
