Spring has sprung!

Home // News // Spring has sprung!

The water vole survey is starting this week, records are coming in from across the country to the BIG hedgehog map and the first dormouse checks are under way. Spring might have been slow to start this year but it has definitely sprung now!

So what are the favourite signs of spring from staff here at People’s Trust for Endangered Species?

Laura

“I love the first evening trips to the park of the year when the sun is still warm and you are surrounded by the sound of the black birds singing.”

Megan

“My favourite sign of spring is the pussy willow catkins coming out. It is one of the first sources of forage for pollinators which is why it is one of the key species we ask people to look for in our wood pasture survey.”

Greg

“I love the days when the clouds part and the big ball of fire hangs in the sky. After months of dull skies it is a pleasure to have to crack out the sun screen again!”
