DESCRIPTION:EVENT CANCELLED  \n  \nThe Burghley House Preservation Trust have kindly agreed to host Stamford Community Orchard Group’s Alternative Apple Day. \n\n\nWalled garden tours \n\n\nThe history of the walled garden \n\n\nThe local varieties of apples \n\n\nBotanical illustrations of local fruit trees \n\n\nSome tips and techniques of fruit tree management \n\n\nSales of SCOG cards and publications \n\n\n  \nThis will be the first formal chance for visitors to see the recently restored walled garden which is one of the oldest and largest in the country. There will also be a chance to see the large range of fruit and nut trees in the garden\, including the 100 m. long apple arch\, the many pear\, plum and apple espaliers\, the walnut grove and cobnut plat. \nCoffee and tea will be available\, and picnics can be taken on the large internal lawns.  \nAll efforts have been made to ensure that the event fully conforms to Government guidance on Covid. \n\n\nBooking \nTickets are limited to 100. SUMMARY:Stamford Apple Day\, EEAOP
DESCRIPTION:The Apple Day will be in its 16th year and will take place on Sat 5th October at Stamford Arts Centre. The event will feature the East of England Apple and Orchards Project bringing along different varieties of apple for people to see and sample and experts will be on hand to identify some of the apple visitors bring with them. Members of the community orchard group will also be on hand to give their advice on how to look after your own apple trees. The event will also feature lots of crafts and fun games for children – including\, of course\, apple bobbing and stallholders will also be there selling a range of products. \nThis is a free event.
