SUMMARY:Mathern Mill Apple Day
DESCRIPTION:Mathern Mill is a grade 2* listed watermill whose history can be traced back to at least 1571. On our last open day this year we are celebrating the long history of cider making at the Mill with apple pressing. If you would like to join in bring about a dozen apples and a container for the juice.\nAs always you can discover how the mill worked\, see the original Victorian machinery and find out about the lives of the people who lived and worked in it.\nThere are things to see and many stories to tell\, including the fateful events which occurred during cider making in 1884! We have activities to entertain children and “appley” refreshments.\nFind us at NP16 6LG. Entry is FREE\,\nFor more information ring 01291622282

SUMMARY:Woolsthorpe Manor Apple Day
DESCRIPTION:Where better to celebrate Apple Day than at the home of Isaac Newton’s gravity-inspiring tree? Join us on Sunday 13 October for all things apple. \n\n\n\n\nHere at Woolsthorpe Manor\, our Apple Day celebration is a special day where we get to share our passion for science\, nature and apples in the presence of Newton’s tree.  There should be something to suit all tastes…tangy or sweet. \nJoin an orchard tour to understand how we manage a historic orchard and protect our famous ‘Flower of Kent’ tree\, taste a variety of local apples and make your own juice with an apple press. \nWe have heaps of apple inspired scientific activities for all age groups.  In the place where Isaac Newton was inspired by the fall of an apple; you can use apples to build crazy structures (engineering principles apply\, obviously)\, and try and make the longest peel. \nAfter the hard work building apple structures\, enjoy a tatsy apple treat in the cafe.

SUMMARY:Bateman's Apple Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Bateman’s for our amazing apple day with family fun\, games to play and you can even try your hand at some orchard crafts. Saturday 19 October\, 11am – 4pm. \n\n\n\n\nCelebrate the harvest\nAs summer draws to a close\, the fruits and vegetables are ripening fast. Come along on Saturday 19 October and explore our orchards; including the relatively new Mill Orchard commemorating the centenary of the deaths of John Kipling’s and 8 other local boys at the Battle of Loos. \nYou’ll also see our beehives nestled in the long grass in the Wild Garden. We established a couple of new colonies last year and the bees have been busy working away to create their new home and then hopefully we’ll have our own honey available in time to sell in our shop. \nFresh from the trees and ground\nWe’ll have a range of produce available for you to try\, in particular the many varieties of apples we grow here. Bring the family and have a tasting session to see which variety your family likes best and then take some home to enjoy. \nHave a go at some orchard crafts\nAt this time of the year we bring out our homemade apple mill and press. The smell and taste of freshly pressed apples is a true autumn experience. Come and have a go at pressing some apples. There’ll be plenty of fun for all the family with some orchard crafts and activities. \n\n\nThe apple day event is free but normal admission charges apply
